PUBLIC NOTICE – RECEIPT OF REVOLVING LOAN FUND APPLICATIONS

The Business Development Corporation (BDC) of the Northern Panhandle has submitted a loan application to the City of Weirton for the use of the City’s USEPA Brownfields Program Revolving Loan Fund (RLF). The BDC has requested funding from the RLF to perform an environmental cleanup project at the Former MBS Building in Half Moon.

The project site is located at 3015 Birch Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062 and was previously used to manufacture steel strapping and later for steel coil storage. The project involves the cleanup and disposal of wastes in the building from historic site operations.

This publication is to notify the public of the 30-day comment period regarding the environmental cleanup project occurring at the site listed above. Interested individuals may review the project documents on the BDC’s website. Project documents are also available for review during regular business hours at the BDC office located at 324A Penco Road, Weirton, WV 26062.

Given the current public health situation, a public informational meeting will be held VIRTUALLY on March 31, 2021 beginning at 12:00 noon and ending when all attendees have had an opportunity to comment. An email meeting link will be sent to all registered participants using the Zoom application for the online meeting.
