Bidell to open manufacturing facility in Weirton

WEIRTON — A Canadian company working in the natural gas industry will be locating in Weirton in the coming months, with plans to create between 60 and 100 jobs over the next two years.

Officials with Bidell Gas Compression, along with representatives of local, county and state government agencies, economic development organizations and more, made the announcement this morning.

The company, a subsidiary of Calgary-based Total Energy Services Inc., will repurpose a 100,000-square-foot machine shop on property previously owned by ArcelorMittal Steel in the city’s north end.

“This location in the city of Weirton provided us with the physical building and land we required, as well as a talented and available workforce,” President Sean Ulmer said. “This support we received from the (state) Commerce Department, the Hancock County commissioner’s office and Weirton officials was instrumental in making our final decision. Without their dedication, patience and creative ideas throughout this process, we would not have been able to make this happen.”

Bidell fabricates, sells, leases and services natural gas compression equipment to customers around the world.

The Weirton site will serve as the company’s U.S. headquarters.
